Editing Services

Do you ever wish you could get another set of professional eyes on your work before submitting it? Would you like an editor to help perfect your story pitch before you query a publication? Or do you want to work on building your style and confidence before launching your own writing business?

If any of these describes you, read on to see how the Writing Coach Editing Service can support you in reaching your writing goals. At Writing Coach, we believe that successful writing needs to be excellent from concept to comma--that is, from the big picture content and organization to the minutiae of grammar and word usage. When you subscribe to our Editing Service, an experienced editor works directly with you to develop both aspects of your work.

Our editors have formal journalism training or equivalent experience in the field and extensive writing/editing credits, and they'll bring that experience to work for you. But they won't rewrite your pieces in their own words; rather, they'll suggest ways to improve on your ideas and style--helping make your writing your personal best.

Our Editing Service Basic package gives you three months working with your individual editor, for $200/month ($600 total). After that, you can always opt to extend the service. If you think you need a little extra mentorship, you can choose our Editing Service Premium package, $300/month ($900 total for the three-month package), which includes rewrite support, or you can upgrade at any time.

Here's how the Writing Coach Editing Service works:

One-on-one phone conference:

  • You begin with a 20-minute call with your editor to get to know one another. This is your chance to tell your editor about your personal goals and what you want to get out of the program, so we can tailor it to your needs...and get results.

Critiques:

  • You can submit one piece of writing up to 750 words per month (basic service) or two pieces of writing up to 1,000 words per month (premium service). Your editor will respond with detailed feedback, including:

    1. An overall critique of the content, organization and language that points out weaknesses and suggests specific ways to address those weaknesses and improve the end product; and

    2. An edited draft with corrections and suggestions that address the nuts and bolts of the writing, from spelling and grammar to word use and style.

Follow-up:

  • If any of the suggestions or edits isn't clear, just email your editor for clarification. We'll get back to you as soon as possible!

  • Premium subscribers are welcome to submit a new draft of a previously-critiqued piece for your second monthly critique.

When you sign up for the Writing Coach Editing Service, you'll get detailed feedback that will help you craft excellent pieces of writing--and along the way, you'll pick up tips and ideas that will allow you to improve your work going forward, as well.

Passive Information Collected
Cookies are a feature of web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.) software that allows web servers to recognize the computer used to access a site. They are small pieces of data that are stored by a user’s web browser on one site to simplify subsequent interactions with that site by the same user or to use the information to streamline the user’s transaction on related web pages. This makes it easier for a user to move from site to site and to complete transactions over the Internet. Cookies should make your online experience easier and more personalized. To find out more about cookies, please visit www.cookiecentral.com.

Our Site utilizes cookies to collect information about how our Site is used. Passive Information gathered from cookies may include the date and time of visits, the Site pages viewed, time spent at our Site and the websites that you visited just before and just after your visit to our Site. Please consult the “Help” section of your web browser in order to correctly turn off or disable the cookie functions. However, please be advised that turning off or disabling the cookie functions on your web browser may prevent our system from properly recognizing you when you visit our Site, and consequently may make your participation in our Program more difficult or invalid.

Our Site’s servers also automatically identify your computer by its Internet protocol (“IP”) address, which is a unique string of numbers that is assigned to your computer by your Internet service provider. IP addresses are automatically logged by web servers, collecting information about a user’s traffic patterns. While the IP address does not identify an individual by name, it may, with the cooperation of the ISP, be used to locate and identify an individual using the Internet. Your IP address can, however, reveal what geographic area you are connecting from, or which ISP you are using. Your IP address may be used to address problems with our server, administer our Site and/or to gather broad demographic information about our Users. Finally, the other websites that you visit have IP addresses, and we may collect the IP addresses of those websites and their pages, as well.
